Half-day · engineering and product teams

Your engineers ship the product. Few of them see how it turns into revenue.

In a SaaS company, every technical decision shows up in the numbers: the cloud bill in gross margin, the onboarding flow in churn, the feature list in price. This half-day makes that link visible, in terms engineers already use.

What it costs

$500

One half-day session for your engineering and product team. Team size, format and date are agreed with me first, over WhatsApp.

Why teams book this

Most people on a SaaS team can describe the product and few can describe the business. Engineers build features without knowing which ones keep customers or which ones only add cost, and the founder ends up translating every decision. A team that understands the model decides faster and argues about the right things.

  • Engineers and the sales team describe the same product in different words.
  • Nobody on the engineering team could explain what churn is, or why it matters this quarter.
  • A feature gets built because one customer asked, and no one asked what it does to margin.
  • The cloud bill grows and nobody connects it to price.
  • Everyone agrees the company needs to grow, and each team means something different by it.

What the half-day covers

A workshop for the whole engineering and product team, tailored to your product and your numbers. It is interactive, and it assumes no finance background.

  • One definition of SaaS

What SaaS means, what it is not, and the company's own promise in one sentence: what the customer expects and why they pay for it.

  • How the company makes money

Subscriptions, renewals, expansion, contraction and churn, set against one-time sales and services. MRR and ARR, explained as the system they are.

  • The numbers an engineer can move

Customer acquisition cost, gross margin and what the cloud bill does to it, payback, and where product and engineering decisions show up in each.

  • Buyer, user and champion

Who pays, who uses and who pushes for the purchase in your business, and which of the three should drive the roadmap.

  • The stage the company is at

Where you sit on the 7-Stage MENA SaaS Growth Roadmap and what that stage asks of the product team.

  • Two handouts to keep

A shared glossary of the SaaS terms your company uses, and a one-page business map: customer, value, revenue, constraints and dependencies.

How the half-day runs

Four steps, and the first one is a short conversation.

  1. Agree the shape

Message me on WhatsApp with your team size and what you build. We agree the date, the format and who should attend. Leadership needs to be in the room, because alignment cannot be delegated.

  2. Share your context

A few lines on your product, your customers and how you charge, plus the numbers you are comfortable sharing. I tailor the examples to them.

  3. The half-day

An interactive session in English or Arabic. Short explanations, then exercises on your own product, so the team builds the answers instead of copying them.

  4. Leave with a shared model

The team leaves with one vocabulary, a one-page map of the business, and a clearer sense of how their own work moves the numbers.

Who this is for, and who it is not

Is this you?

  • You run a SaaS company, or a SaaS unit inside a larger one, with engineers and product people who are close to the code and far from the numbers.
  • A founder or senior leader will be in the room.
  • You want your team to make better trade-offs without asking you every time.
  • You would rather the team understood the business than memorised a slide.

This is not for you if…

  • You want a coding or architecture workshop.
  • Leadership cannot attend and the aim is to fix the team from outside.
  • You expect a finance course with spreadsheets and formulas for everyone.

Questions before you ask

Do our engineers need any business background?
No. The session starts from terms engineers already use, such as systems, inputs and outputs, and builds the business model from there. No finance background is assumed.
Is this only for engineers?
It is built for engineering and product teams, and it works for any team that touches the product. A mixed room usually leads to the best conversation, as long as leadership is part of it.
Will it use our own numbers?
Yes, as far as you are comfortable sharing them. Where you would rather not, we use ranges or a realistic example for a company like yours.
Can it run in Arabic?
Yes. I run it in English or Arabic, whichever your team works in. SaaS terms stay in English, as they do at work.
What does the team keep afterwards?
A shared glossary of the SaaS terms your company uses and a one-page map of your business, so the conversation continues after the day.

What participants say

From participants in the MENA SaaS Foundation Masterclass, in their own words and their own language.

  • What I gained from this course goes beyond information. I acquired new skills, joined a lifelong community, and had the opportunity to engage in meaningful and open business discussions.

    Shahd Mohamed

  • The course was very insightful and changed my perspective about a lot of aspects when it comes to validation and founder–market fit. The Coach prompts are amazing to help you and challenge you to refine the idea and the statements needed to make things straight.

    Omar Youssef

  • Don’t be over optimistic about your idea, it might just be more of a burden than an actual money maker! Mr. Mohamed will challenge your idea for you, but you’ll have to defend it yourself! If you really want to go to the founders circle and live that messy life, FIGHT. Thanks Mr. Mohamed Elsherif for providing me with the knowledge, tools, awareness and POWER to move on.

    Mohamed Ali

  • ممتنة لك بحجم السماء يا محمد الشريف، وكم خبراتك المميزة التي استفدنا منها على مدار الكورس.
